DiabeatIt

Our Mission

DiaBeatIt is dedicated to combating the silent epidemic of diabetes and its serious complication, diabetic retinopathy (DR), in India. Our primary goal is to identify undiagnosed diabetes early to prevent future complications, with a special focus on diabetic retinopathy, and to ensure timely intervention to protect vision. We aim to save lives and prevent avoidable blindness through early detection, awareness, and community action.

Why It Matters

  • India is home to over 100 million diabetics today, projected to reach 134 million by 2045.

  • Alarmingly, 70% of diabetics in India are unaware of their condition, risking severe health complications.

  • DR affects 15–25% of diabetics and is a leading cause of preventable blindness; over 75% of long-term diabetics develop DR if untreated.

What We Do

  • Early Detection:Identifying undiagnosed diabetes and prediabetes through community screenings and risk assessments to prevent future complications

  • Focused Awareness: Educating people about diabetes and the critical importance of monitoring blood sugar levels regularly.

  • Lifestyle and Management Support: Encouraging healthier habits, reducing obesity, and combatting risk factors such as tobacco and alcohol use.Promote healthy lifestyles including exercise, nutritious diets, and reduced junk food consumption.

  • Provide Early Screening: Conduct free blood sugar camps in underserved and high-risk communities.

  • Encourage Regular Follow-Up: Raising awareness about the silent progression of DR, promoting timely eye screening, and ensuring access to treatment to save vision.Motivate people with diabetes to attend routine eye checkups to prevent progression of DR.

  • Partnerships and Expert Guidance:Connect patients to expert care centers for effective management.Connect patients with specialized centers for timely medical and laser treatment.

Har Haath Kitaab

"Har Haath Kitaab" is a transformative campaign through which last year we have collected 137 tons of waste paper, to convert into usable notebooks for the underserved category. By doing so, we have saved over 2329 trees, and 36.3 lacs liters of water.
Textbooks will be donated back to NGOs as teaching-learning material for both teachers and students
Storybooks will be used to create reading clubs or libraries for the NGO Schools working for the basic school education of underserved children. The idea is to develop the reading skills in these children
Workbooks or Activity Books can be used as worksheets for children to practice
Unused pages of the Notebooks will be re-binded to create notebooks for the children
With Newspaper we are working on the prototype to create Sanitary Pads disposable bags.
One-sided printed Printer Copier Paper will be re-binded to create drawing books for such children and both-sided printed printer copier paper will be recycled.
